300-Yard Match Results
July 19, 2008

MATCH REPORT:

We were fortunate to have “dry” typical mid summer conditions for our 4th 300 yard match of the season. The early relays had a slight advantage as they were able to fire the match under a veil of cloud cover and very little mirage. As the match progressed, the temperatures climbed and the tricky winds started to play havoc. Such is the nature of our long range precision shooting game. We all learn a little from these experiences and hopefully become more proficient marksmen.

Of note in this last match; Bob Elka, a guest shooter from Monroe Michigan, surpassed the highest score fired thus far on the tiny F-Class target by 2 points, setting the new benchmark at 197-11X. Keep in mind that the 10 ring is only 2 ¾” in diameter and Bob landed all but 3 of his shots inside that tiny circle. Great Shooting Bob!

Keith Rodvold didn’t loose any ground from his last match in June, as he duplicated his score of 197-2-X shooting an AR-15 service rifle from a bench. That’s some fine shooting Keith!

Bob Burmeister is getting his Savage long range rifle tuned up as he shot a very respectable score of 192-5X . Keep an eye on the breeze Bob!

Browse over the scores and get a feel for the level of competition. This match is really a great educational tool for learning how to shoot well beyond the usual 100 yard distance. We have many well versed and experienced shooters among our midst. If you need information on how to get involved, show up at the next match on August 16th and someone will answer your questions. Hope to see you in August!

I’d like to thank Tom Bruley for his generous donation of two hand held radios which we put to good use at this match. Thanks Tom! Rich Pitzinger did a great job registering shooters and collecting entry fees. Thanks to the many un-named helpers who volunteered their services to make the match such a success!
